Eithne & Joe

I felt like one of the guests at Eithne & Joe's big day on Saturday, having photographed her sisters' Jacinta & Aideen's weddings in the past couple of years. This was a lovely, intimate affair with close friends and family going to dinner in Cromleach Lodge after the ceremony in Roscommon. We weren't sure that PJ's bubble car would make the journey, so one of John Keane's finest cars was laid on to transport the happy couple. Eithne particularly wanted a sunset shot at Cromleach, and the weather kindly obliged, providing a gorgeous red sky as the meal ended.

Fiona & James

Fiona & James held their wedding in Middleton Park House, a beautiful Victorian country house. It was my first time to work in the venue, and unfortunately it turned out to be the wettest day of the year, which ruled out strolling through the grounds. Luckily, the interiors of the house offered equally dramatic backdrops, and we also took a little trip down the road to the Kilbeggan Whiskey Museum. I also had the pleasure of working with David Ryan as my second-shooter. I've admired David's work for a while, so it was good to have him doing what he does best, shooting documentary-style, as everything happened around him. Fiona was stunning in her Stephanie Allin dress, and James' expression in David's pic below says it all as she came down the stairs to the ceremony. DSC_5671b

Helen & Charles

Helen & Charles are London-based, and took advantage of the bumper bank holiday for the Queen's 60th anniversary to hold their wedding in Kilronan Castle on Monday. Helen looked great in a tea-length dress, which was perfect for twirling dramatically. I was very tempted to post a picture of Helen's Mum, Judy, but as the most camera-shy person I've met, I'm not sure she'd thank me for it. Luckily, Helen & Charles are very assured in front of a lens, and their wedding celebrations left the jubilee festivities in the shade. 300_3411

Patricia & Martin

I'd been looking forward to Trish & Martin's wedding for a while. Theirs is a very romantic story - they are literally the boy & girl next door, who gre up together and fell in love. Martin is also a top sheepdog handler, a winner of the junior "One Man & His Dog" competition, he's a classy footballer, and plays a mean bodhrán too. Not to be outdone, Trish has taken up the concertina, so will be well able to hold her own in any trad sessions around Streedagh. The shot of Martin & his groomsman Joe playing back at the Radisson is one of my favourites, mainly because of joe's look of near-ecstasy as he gets lost in the music. Eagle-eyed regular readers may spot that the second accordian player, Shane, has been featured on this site before, here. 300_2600

Carol & Colm

Carol & Colm's day was full of laughs, with a big, bubbly bridal party, and lots of banter & craic. It was my first of two days in Kilronan Castle with grooms from Curry - it must have been one big party in the town over the weekend! 300_1900
